Frequently asked questions
How do you handle PHI in BI workloads?
We separate PHI-bearing tables from analytical workloads via deidentification at the silver layer where possible, plus field-level security and row-level filters for cases where named-patient context is required. OCR-defensible access patterns documented in a written governance plan.
Can you work with Epic and Cerner data?
Yes. We have shipped Power BI and Tableau workloads on Caboodle and Epic Clarity extracts, Cerner HealtheIntent, and the standard claims feeds. The data plumbing pattern is consistent; the metric definitions are the bigger gating constraint.
What does a typical healthcare BI engagement look like?
4-week current-state assessment (workload inventory + certified-metric gap analysis), then a phased 12-to-20-week build of the prioritized dashboards. Most engagements land at a deliverable-based fee for phase one. Senior-led delivery throughout.
Do you use Tableau, Power BI, or both?
Both. We are Tableau-certified and Power BI-certified, and we work with whichever tool the client already has invested in. For greenfield builds we discuss the choice on the merits; most decisions come down to existing tool investment and team skills.
How is this different from a typical BI consulting firm?
Senior-led delivery (no junior consultants two years out of college on the SOW), fixed-price engagements (no hourly billing), and a metric-layer-first methodology that focuses on what your leadership team needs to trust the numbers.
